On October 1-2, the most respected thought leaders in data mining will join hundreds of data mining practitioners for the world's largest data mining conference, M2007. Hosted by SAS, the tenth annual data mining conference will feature six keynote addresses and more than 30 session talks in multiple tracks. To help individuals learn the latest data mining theories, trends and best practices in the field, SAS hosts M2007, its tenth annual data mining conference, this October 1-2 in Las Vegas. The largest data mining conference of its kind, M2007 provides attendees a forum for exchanging ideas with hundreds of data mining practitioners and more than 40 of the most respected data mining experts in the world. This year's conference is chaired by SAS' Director of Higher Education Consulting Dr. Jerry Oglesby and Dr. Goutam Chakraborty, professor of marketing at Oklahoma State University.

  • At M2007, attendees will learn about the latest advances, best practices, and case studies in the industry," said Oglesby. Last year's conference attracted more than 700 data mining practitioners and business decision makers from nearly 300 different business, academic, and government organizations, making it the largest data mining conference of its kind in the world.
  • We're excited about the lineup of speakers we've secured and are certain this conference, our tenth, will be the best yet," Oglesby continued. "Not only are our speakers innovative thought-leaders in the field of data mining, but they are engaging practitioners who will provide information and ideas that will help our attendees become better data miners."
Keynote Speakers Confirmed keynote speakers to-date include:
  • Sambuddha Deb, Chief Quality Officer of Wipro. Deb is responsible for leading Wipro's Quality, Productivity, Six Sigma and Knowledge Management initiatives.
  • David Hand, Head of the Statistics Section in the Mathematics Department and Head of the Mathematics in Banking and Finance programme of the Institute for Mathematical Sciences at Imperial College London. Hand has authored more than 20 books on data mining.
  • V. Kumar, ING Chair Professor of Marketing, and Executive Director, ING Center for Financial Services in the School of Business, University of Connecticut. He has published over 125 articles and numerous books. He was recently listed as one of the top five ranked scholars in marketing worldwide.
  • Michael Treacy, co-founder and chief strategist of GEN3 Partners. Treacy's most recent book, Double Digit Growth: How Companies Achieve It No Matter What, has been a Business Week bestseller.
Come for the knowledge; leave with the skills to make a difference

What makes the conference so successful, many attendees agree, is its balance between theory and practice. M2007 keynote speakers will share the latest research and data mining methodology, while breakout sessions focus on the more practical, offering best practices, case studies and advice on how to begin implementing or expanding data mining within an organization. The conference offers participants more than 30 session talks available in multiple sessions each day. Session topics on the agenda include:

  • Business applications
  • Perspectives from retail
  • Perspectives from financial services
  • Perspectives from healthcare
  • New and emerging technologies
  • Data mining in marketing
Immediately following the conference, M2007 will offer training courses that highlight the latest data mining technology. Participants will be able to choose one or more of six courses.

For those interested in pre-conference training, a half-day workshop precedes the conference on Sunday, September 30.
