Subject: Wellington, New Zealand: Senior Customer Insight Analyst at ANZ National Bank Limited

Purpose:
Undertake analysis and modelling to improve the understanding of customers & products and identify opportunities to maximise the value of the ANZ National customer base.

By owning the end to end process for providing insight the position holder will assist the bank in prioritising customer needs, developing quality customers leads and better customer strategies.

Reports To: Manager Customer Analysis

Principal Accountabilities:

The Senior Customer Insight Analyst is accountable to the Manager Customer Analysis, for:

  • Combining a knowledge of the business and systems to turn data into insight and proactively providing this insight to users to enable better strategy and ROI.
  • Taking ownwership of new techniques to improve customer insights from both external and internal customer information
  • Providing in-house expertise of analytical, statistical and modelling methods.
  • Managing the completion of designated projects by identifying the issues analysing the options, planning the approach, implementing recommendations and reviewing the results.
  • Developing an ongoing suite of analytical models & techniques to understand, describe and predict customer behaviour.
  • Assisting the Manager to develop a Marketing Information environment that enhances the analysis and modelling capability of ANZ National.
  • Monitoring, maintaining and enhancing the performance of these models.
  • Work collaboratively, closely and across other functional stakeholders in Market Information, Marketing, Customer Strategy, Product Management and Information Technology
  • Helping identify areas with growth potential by linking Market Research to internal customer data analytics.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to use statistical and modelling expertise to better inform decision making across the Retail Bank
  • Mentoring junior staff in the Analytics team.

Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Tertiary qualification in statistics/mathematics/ or economics or related business or technical degree.
  • Proven experience utilising statistical analysis techniques, including the development, refinement and implementation of predictive & propensity models.
  • Extensive experience (3+ years) in customer analytics including data mining, segmentation and decision support systems
  • Experience using SAS/SQL (4+ years).
  • Project Management skills
  • Highly numerate - able to evaluate complex information quickly
  • Strong analytical, statistical and strategic aptitude
  • Demonstrable the ability to turn data into customer insights and articulate how this can be applied in decision making
  • Ability to completely understand and assess business situations such as customer profitability, market share and competitor activity
