I have had the pleasure of being part of the KDD community since before the formation of SIGKDD. What makes KDD so much fun is that we get to work on problems that are both intellectually stimulating and have tremendous real world impact. In particular, I bring the perspective of someone who has not only come up with new research areas and algorithms, but also experienced the issues involved in deploying these algorithms in the real world. If elected, I will use my experiences and insights to help SIGKDD continue to thrive as a vibrant community of both academia and industry that together change the world.

Biography
Dr. Ramakrishnan Srikant is a Senior Staff Research Scientist at Google. He previously worked at IBM Almaden Research Center. His research interests include data mining, internet monetization, web search and privacy.

Dr. Srikant received the ACM SIGKDD Innovation Award (2006), the ACM Grace Murray Hopper Award (2002), the 2008 ICDE Influential Paper Award, and the VLDB 2004 Ten Year Best Paper Award. His papers have been extensively cited (more than 19,000 citations in Google Scholar). He has received IBM Outstanding Technical Achievement Awards for his contributions to IBM Intelligent Miner, and an IBM Outstanding Innovation Award for his work on Privacy in Data Systems.

Dr. Srikant has served as Program Co-Chair of SIGKDD 2001, Editor-in-Chief of SIGKDD Explorations from 2005 through 2006, and as a member of the SIGKDD Award Committee from 2007 - 2008. He also served as Vice Chair (Data Mining Track) of WWW 2006, Vice Chair of ICDM 2004, and Associate Editor of ACM Transactions on Internet Technology from 2006 - 2009. He has served on numerous program committees, including KDD 2009, WWW 2009, SIGMOD 2009 and ICDE 2009.
