Data Miner / Statistician, Equipment Monitoring Group, Service Department at Komatsu America Corp.

This position is part of the Equipment Monitoring Group which was established to maximize all available machine data to support our products in the field.

The core responsibilities of this position are the following:

1. Predictive Maintenance:
   1. Conduct statistics based analysis against all machine monitoring data to reveal unforeseen patterns and relationships in order to identify potential predictors of an impending failure.
   2. Develops predictive models based on the above statistical analysis in order to apply these models to the entire population of machines in order to build a foundation for an automated analytic based prediction system
2. Quality Issue Identification
   1. Develops/enhances the production models used for early identification of quality issues for full line of parts/products.
3. Root Cause Analysis
   1. Provides analysis/data mining support for cross functional team that supports engineering failure analysis.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in operations research, statistics, economics, applied mathematics or a quantitative social science; Master's degree preferred
• Minimum 3-5 years experience performing statistical analysis (statistical modeling, data mining, etc) on diverse data sets and applying findings.
• Proficient in SPSS Clementine (Modeler) and SPSS Predictive Enterprise Services or similar workbench and deployment applications. Experience with text mining a plus.
• Outstanding communication skills, demonstrating the ability to articulate and translate complex mathematical concepts into language understood by other team members.
• Strong skills in: analytical and problem solving, teamwork and team participation, and application of technical skills to business problems
• Excellent time and project management skills
• Proficiency with MS Office programs
• Experience with SQL / data analysis tools or other analytical reporting packages (ie. Business Objects ) a plus
