Principal Engineer / Applied Scientist

About the Opportunity This is a hands-on position with algorithm development and tuning responsibility for on line machine learning systems. The ideal candidate will be either a strong engineer with machine learning experience or a scientist with hands-on programming experience.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Design and develop machine learning algorithms and solutions.
  • Design, train and deploy machine learning based models.
  • Build, enhance and maintain various software components of the machine learning platform.
  • Learn / understand marketing business problems and design creative and scalable solutions.
  • Analyze large datasets - built from Petabyte scale data - to tune the models and algorithms for relevancy and targeting.
Requirements
  • Experienced engineer with machine learning experience or a scientist with hands-on programming experience.
  • Machine learning / information retrieval / large data mining /Text mining experience.
  • Understanding of statistics, Bayesian probability.
  • Expert level programming skills with one scripting language like Perl / Python.
  • Strong programming skills specifically working with C/C++ or Java. Experience with large databases / files and in memory data structures.
  • Large dataset experience preferably working with complex enterprise / web datasets.
Basic Qualifications
  • BS / MS in computer science or related field and 7 to 10 years of related programming experience or PhD in computer science with 3 to 5 years of hands on programming experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently design / develop and test large and complex applications in a 'large data' environment is a must.
