About the Opportunity

This position is part of newly created Machine learning solutions team focused on merchandising (recommendations) and Ad targeting at eBay. This is a hands-on leadership position with end-to-end responsibility for a new data mining and text mining framework to be built.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide technology leadership to a cross functional team (engineering, applied research and analytics).
• Lead, design and develop the data transformations needed for producing machine learning data sets.
• Learn and use various statistical techniques to analyze the data and build intelligent features / variables.
• Build scalable software frameworks and components that can process petabytes of data and millions of large text documents.
• Design and develop prototypes of innovative visualizations and data driven UI solutions.
• Develop, train and deploy machine learning solutions / algorithms for creative merchandising and targeting.

• Experienced software / research / data engineer with expert level programming skills.
• Exposure to Machine learning / information retrieval / large data mining /. Text mining.
• Expert level programming skills with one scripting language like Perl / Python OR expert level reporting / ETL experience (AbInitio preferred).
• Strong programming skills specifically working with C/C++ or Java. Experience with large databases / files and in memory data structures.
• Large dataset experience preferably working with complex enterprise / web datasets.
