Subject: Charlottesville, VA: Post-doc Genetics Biostatistician at U. of Virginia

The Center for Public Heath Genomics at the University of Virginia (Charlottesville, VA) is looking for talented individuals to join our research staff. The Center has active research programs in the genetic and genomic aspects of complex diseases including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, stroke, and cancer and will grow significantly in faculty and staff over the next 3-5 years. The Genetics Biostatistician collaborates with research faculty members in the Center and has the opportunity to work on large scale projects at the cutting edge of human genetics and genomics research. Duties include disease susceptibility gene mapping by whole genome association and linkage, integration of microarray and expression analysis with genetic data, human genome annotation using data from "next-gen" sequencing projects, and analysis of data from functional genomics experiments.

This is a great opportunity for a machine learning specialist or applied statistician to "break into" the field of genomics in an environment where your skills and knowledge will be highly valued, and your computers kept busy with lots of data from a variety of internal projects. The position can be structured as either a permanent staff position or as a post-doctoral position (though the work expectations and salary will be different, depending on the chosen career path).

Apply via the UVA job site
