Manuscripts are due by 31 January 2000.

Conference Chair: Belur V. Dasarathy, Dynetics, Inc.

Program Committee: Michael C. Burl, Jet Propulsion Lab.; Peter Deer,
Defense Science Technology Organisation (Australia); Peter W. Eklund,
Griffith Univ. (Australia); Sheau- Dong Lang, Univ. of Central
Florida; Tsau Y. Lin, San Jose State Univ.; Stephan Rudolph,

This conference is being highlighted by SPIE as a separate track in
view of its interdisciplinary nature and wide spread interest in
non-engineering and commercial fields as well. It is designed to
emphasize the interdisciplinary nature of the fields of data mining
and knowledge discovery, nurture, and exploit the synergism among the
contributing disciplines and widen the scope for application of these
tools to cover the aerospace, defense, and civilian domains. Papers
are invited in all areas of interest to the DM&KD community,
including:
theoretical foundations of Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery
machine learning and pattern recognition tools for DM&KD
	applied statistical tools including clustering
algorithmic techniques including fuzzy approaches to database query
applications of DM & KD to expert systems
mining massive data stores of sensor data in manufacturing
mining remotely sensed multispectral and hyperspectral imagery data bases
mining knowledge in various data scenarios including text, image, audio, sensor,
numeric, symbolic, or mixed format data sources
	internet applications
other applications of DM&KD in science, engineering, medicine including
	government and industry.

Proposals for special sessions devoted to specific topics are also welcome. Please contact the chairman at belur.d@dynetics.com with your ideas.
