orientation help

hello,
I am a PhD student in information management science and i want to direct my research study on Datawarehouse, business intelligence and especially data mining. Could anyone help me where to start in my research? or a special short path of research in these area? any special intersting topics as I fully want a oriented industry career later. I am also looking for a thesis title, tough still difficult for me , even after a lot of readings,
