Karmasphere, Zementis make PMML models available for Hadoop

Karmasphere and Zementis transform PMML models into industry standard Hive UDF's for Hadoop, to allow data analysts easily use existing models, including from SAS, SPSS and R.

Karmasphere™the leader in Big Data Analytics,
and ZementisZementis, a leading predictive analytics software provider, announced the availability of PMML based models as standard Hadoop User Defined Functions (UDF's) that can be readily consumed and managed by users of the Karmasphere Workspace for Big Data Analytics.

The Predictive Model Markup Language (PMML)is a standard for representing predictive models, making them highly portable. Karmasphere and Zementis take this one step further by transforming PMML models into industry standard Hive UDF's for Hadoop. Analysts can now use Karmasphere to deploy their statistical models natively on Hadoop, across all their data and dimensions, to improve the accuracy of results.

"Karmasphere's solution is the ideal environment for analysts to integrate and use a wide range of advanced analytic models generated by the industry's leading commercial and open-source data mining tools," said Dr. Michael Zeller, CEO of Zementis. "This partnership with Karmasphere means those models can be used more easily for rapid, on-the-fly, predictive Big Data analytics on Hadoop, by many more analysts."
