The 2013 Yahoo! Fellow Kalev Leetaru talks about Big Data, Global Diplomacy and Digital Heartbeat and application of Big Data to understanding international relationships.

Kalev LeetaruKalev Leetaru is well-known for his pioneering (and controversial) work using "big data" approach to problems in international relations, including Culturonomics, a theory for using data to predict international events, and a landmark database GDELT: Global Data on Events, Location and Tone.

Kalev Leetaru has received many honors and most recently he was selected as the Yahoo! Fellow in Residence of International Values, Communications Technology & the Global Internet at the Institute for the Study of Diplomacy in Georgetown, where he delivered the lecture below.
