IDC/KDnuggets Advanced Analytics Survey, 2016
What are the use cases for machine learning? What's the typical analytics workflow? Should we have a data science team? Should we outsource our analytics? Help IDC and KDnuggets answer these questions and read the results on KDnuggets and in other places.
The so called 'quants' have been in high demand on Wall Street for years. But in recent years the fields of data mining and statistics have burst into the headlines - not only of technical publications but also in business and even mass market online and print media. Today, the so called 'data scientists' are in high demand not only in financial services but globally across industries. With the demand come strategy and execution considerations that many organizations are ill prepared to handle. Questions about technology, process, staffing, and data abound.
What are the use cases for machine learning? What's the typical analytics workflow? Should we have a data science team? Should we outsource our analytics? What is the extent of interaction between data scientists and their line of business colleagues? Which of the many new and well-established software tools and languages should we evaluate?
To help answer some of these and other related questions that are facing today's executives, managers, and staff charged with leading their organization's data science efforts, IDC, the premier technology market research firm and KD Nuggets, the leading source for data science related content, have partnered to conduct a survey of the advanced and predictive analytics community.
This survey project is being led by Dan Vesset, Group VP of Analytics and Information Management market research at IDC and Gregory Piatetsky-Shapiro, President of KDnuggets. The key results of the survey will be published in an article on KDnuggets as well as in various forms on IDC.com.
