Webinar: Driving Data Democracy: Hadoop and Redshift, Mar 16

The Hadoop ecosystem has improved markedly over the past few years. MPP databases allow analytics teams to easily query massive structured data sets. Learn how these pipelines work on March 16.

Looker Hadoop Redshift Driving Data Democracy: Hadoop & Redshift

Mar 16, 10 am PT, 1pm ET

The Hadoop ecosystem has improved markedly over the past few years, both from an ease-of-use standpoint and with respect to outright performance. Moreover, MPP databases seem to slot in nicely as complimentary tools to map-reduce batch jobs, in that they allow analytics teams to easily query massive structured data sets. All of this, with the aid of querying and visualization tools, makes data democracy possible at every stage of the pipeline.

Join Rex Gibson, Manager of Data Engineering at Knewton and Scott Hoover, Data Scientist at Looker as they walk through how these pipelines work. They will also discuss the merits and drawbacks associated with making data processing and querying more "democratic."

Possible questions include:
  • Do you take the SQL + Hadoop approach and use map-reduce transformations to prepare your data for your MPP database or do you rely on in-flight transformations that occur within the Hadoop ecosystem, then use an SQL-like layer to access the data in the cluster?
  • How have recent additions to the Hadoop ecosystem made data engineering tasks more accessible?
  • How can we expose the right data to the right people?
