Halim Abbas has been on the Research Staff at Carleton University, a Software Designer at Nortel Networks, the Machine Learning Research Scientist at a couple of successful start-ups, a Senior Research Scientist at eBay, and a Principal Data Scientist at Think Big, A Teradata Company. Today, he’s working on an app for screening for autism and other developmental disorders among young children based on close to 300,000 questionnaires at Cognoa. After getting started as an economist for the Wharton Econometric Forecasting group, Gary joined Wells Fargo in 1988. How does he stay abreast after nearly 30 years? Gary learns on the job, of course. Since Wells Fargo was the first bank in the world to process a payment on the Internet and is based in San Francisco, Gary has had ample opportunity to stay in close touch and partner with the nearby entrepreneurial community.
