Is the data science field evolving faster than your resume? Earn a Master of Professional Studies in Data Analytics online through Penn State World Campus – and you can add in-demand skills to your wheelhouse while you continue to work.
Penn State’s fully online data analytics program uniquely prepares students to advance their career in data science. Students can learn to examine the entire life cycle of analytics problem solving and evolve as a primary influencer capable of driving key business decisions.
Explore more than descriptive and predictive analytics. Students in Penn State’s online program gain expertise in prescriptive analytics as well. Using large data sets and AI techniques like machine learning, they can learn to anticipate what, when, and why something happens and define the best course of action for their organization.
Go beyond the theoretical side of data science. Student can also gain relevant, hands-on experience using real-world data sets. Online students can earn their degree on a part-time basis while they continue to work. As a result, they are better able to apply these new skills to their current job for a faster return-on-investment.
Enjoy greater customization. Students have the option to select the base program with coursework tightly focused on database design, large-scale data and warehouses, and data-driven decision making. However, the program can be customized by selecting an option in either business analytics or marketing analytics.
The online curriculum is stackable, so courses associated with a business analytics or marketing analytics concentration may also meet the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Business Analytics or the Graduate Certificate in Marketing Analytics. This innovative structure allows you to earn two credentials instead of just one.
Elective topics include data visualization, deep learning, network and predictive analytics, advanced database design, large-scale databases for real-world analytics, regression methods, technical project management, and more.
Penn State currently has more than 300 part-time students in the online program, 75 percent of which reside outside of the state of Pennsylvania. Students have an average of 5 to 7 years of work experience and have some degree of quantitative skills in their background.
Applications for 2020-21 are currently being reviewed. GRE waivers are available to highly qualified candidates.
