Campus Specific Information:

The CUNY School of Professional Studies (CUNY SPS) has launched sixteen degrees: ten bachelor's degrees open to students with 24 or more college credits who wish to complete their undergraduate studies, and six master's degrees, with more programs currently in development. CUNY SPS leads the University in developing and operating online degree programs, and trains faculty throughout CUNY in online instruction. CUNY SPS is also the home of the Joseph S. Murphy Institute for Worker Education and Labor Studies, which offers higher education programs for working adults and union members, and serves as a nationally-recognized center for scholarship and resources for labor, academic, and community leaders seeking a deeper understanding of labor and urban issues.

The Distinguished Lecturer for the CUNY SPS online B.S. in Information Systems and online M.S. in Data Analytics serves as the academic director for both programs and will oversee, implement, and monitor comprehensive curriculums; direct all program evaluation efforts and create strategic plans for further program development; teach in the program; and work closely with faculty and students.

The online B.S. in Information Systems degree program focuses on five components of information systems: processes, people, data, infrastructure, and design and on the ways they combine to create agile and competitive organizations. The online B.S. in Information Systems provides students with the practical knowledge to make sense of and contribute to the increasingly globalized and technology-driven business environment. Students will develop core technical proficiency in programming, web and mobile app development, database design and management, enterprise applications and cloud computing, systems analysis and design, and networking and security; customize the curriculum through a broad range of technical and application electives such as e-commerce, human resources, marketing, GIS, healthcare systems, computer forensics, data science, and business process redesign; learn practical and high-demand skills through hands-on projects in every course; and cultivate a strong sense of innovation and entrepreneurship through courses in technology strategy and management as well as by developing their technology portfolio.

The online M.S. in Data Analytics program prepares graduates to make sense of real-world phenomena and everyday activities by mining and visualizing data. Data analytics combines data programming, quantitative methods, data modeling, data mining, and machine learning to help organizations predict future events and evaluate past performance. The program is designed to prepare graduates for a variety of careers such as Data Scientist, Business Intelligence Analyst, Data Analyst, Data Mining Engineer, and Data Warehousing Manager.
