This Group Manager will be the lead statistician for Sports Authority's CRM and loyalty initiatives as we build them from the ground up as one of our top strategic priorities for the coming year. We're looking for someone who will partner with senior business leaders to understand their objectives, deliver cutting-edge/advanced analytics, and provide actionable insights to support strategic decisions. The Group Manager will support this effort by developing in-depth customer behavior analysis, predictive models, customer segmentation, and a comprehensive Loyalty/CRM measurement plan. Further, this position not only oversees and executes the analyses, but also presents and explains the implications to senior business leaders across multiple contact channels (i.e. direct mail, email, in-store, online, etc.).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Have a passion for creating actionable customer insights that can drive marketing and business strategy
  • Partner with Direct Marketing/CRM and Loyalty Marketing teams to analyze business needs and recommend analytical methodologies from statistics, business intelligence or other analytical discipline to achieve business objectives
  • Lead a team of analysts working with appropriate quantitative methods to define problems, design tests, collect/analyze customer data, synthesize insights and present recommendations to different levels of business managers
  • Have a practical knowledge of advanced statistical concepts and applications such as logistic and linear regression, CHAID segmentation, parametric and non-parametric methods, clustering techniques and simulation to support answering challenging business questions
  • Manage the measurement of loyalty and CRM performance on a daily basis and synthesize observations into dashboards and scorecards
  • Identify, source and manage vendors necessary to complete assigned projects within desired time frames
  • Partner with the Information Services department to build, maintain and ensure the accuracy of the customer database as well as the analytical and campaign management software environments
  • Responsible for other duties as assigned or developed.

  • Strong communication, writing and presentation skills
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • A minimum of 5 to 7 years in advanced analytics and presenting actionable customer insight in a database marketing or retail environment
  • 1 to 3 years of retail industry experience preferable
  • Able to demonstrate advanced computer and analytical skills with particular knowledge and understanding of analytical technologies such as:
    • Statistical analysis software (SAS, SPSS, Etc.)
    • Reporting Tools (MicroStrategy, Cognos, Business Objects, etc.)
    • Computer interfaces, relational databases, and database management and organization
    • Working knowledge of SQL a plus
  • Exceptional written and oral communication abilities
  • Strong analytic skills with experience in statistical modeling and analysis
  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint
  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Economics, or Computer Science
  • Master's Degree or MBA with emphasis in a quantitative discipline preferred
