About the CFPB
The Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010 (Dodd-Frank Act) established the consumer bureau. The central mission of the CFPB is to make markets for consumer financial products and services work for Americans - whether they are applying for a mortgage, choosing among credit cards, or using any number of other consumer financial products.

The Data Team is responsible for policies, procedures, standards, strategy and technical direction for the bureau's assets and maintaining a master catalog and warehouse.

As a Data Scientist, you will directly impact our mission by cultivating a robust analytical environment for our large teams of economists, researchers and analysts through the ownership of full lifecycle analysis projects. You will champion advanced tools and techniques to ensure that every opportunity in leveraged to support knowledge and understanding in our highly innovative agency. In our growing organization, you will provide strategic solutions that are scalable, repeatable and effectively communicate data about consumers, industries and financial products to both internal stakeholders and the public.

Additionally, you will produce presentations, including accurate visualizations, that synthesize findings and provide clear, simple recommendations for action to audiences both with and without relevant backgrounds. And - you'll do all of this while working within one of the most ground-breaking bureaus in federal government.

What We're Looking For
No matter your level of experience, you must possess a relentless commitment to professional and organizational excellence. Strong written and verbal communication skills are a must, as well as the demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment. You should have a proven record of successful application of data science techniques, including detailed methodology, data gathering, execution of analysis and insight presentations - or a relevant level of graduate education. Successful candidates will have a technical proficiency in statistical analysis and other techniques, including data mining, geospatial analysis and predictive modeling. Experience presenting to a broad range of stakeholders is a plus.
