Responsibilities

  • Quantitative data analysis and translation of data/statistics into tangible business decisions using data modeling and statistical analysis tools and methods
  • Developing business requirements for data analysis and reporting
  • Selecting, sampling, and/or summarizing data from a big dataset to a size manageable for further analysis
  • Access and effectively summarize quantitative data in warehouse environments
  • Integrating data from multiple systems, and/or external sources
  • Deliver valuable insights through predictive analytics of large data sources
  • Liaising between actuarial business organization and supporting IT groups to develop business parameters and requirements
  • Monitoring program/project baselines to ensure activities are occurring as planned - scope, budget and schedule

Demonstrated Knowledge & Skills:

  • Advanced analytical problem solving skills
  • Experience with large quantitative data sets and the manipulation of data
  • Experience with specific analysis tools (SAS, MS Access, etc.)
  • Ability to quickly combine and evaluate both structured and unstructured data
  • Background in quantitative analysis, statistics, data mining, and predictive modeling
  • Extensive knowledge of relational and non-relational database tools
  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal, relationship and communication skills - ability to interact with all levels of management
  • Understanding of end-to-end IT life cycle (pipeline, resource, demand, project delivery, financial)
  • Strong organization/time management skills
  • Attention to detail and perseverance to completion
  • Advanced level Microsoft Project, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel skills

Required Background and Experience:

  • College Degree required
  • Experience in financial services or large insurance organizations required
  • Experience with large quantitative data sets required
  • M.S., M.A., or M.B.A graduate level degree preferred
  • Previous external consulting experience preferred
  • Actuarial experience a plus
  • Experience with IT projects a plus
  • Project Management Training/Certification such as PMI's Project Management Professional (PMP) a plus
