Amazon is hiring Business Analysts at our EU HQ in Luxembourg! You will be supporting different businesses (Merchants, Imaging, Prime & Delivery) and develop innovative solutions to enable their growth. A relocation and visa support is being offered.

Your work will be diverse and within your role you can grow in technical and non-technical directions: drive complex analysis to get to the root causes, own technical processes and innovate on behalf of the sellers and optimize existing processes and algorithms, create reporting tools to detect early indicators of changing performance, act as a trusted partner to business teams, or use innovative machine learning algorithms that model patterns within data to drive automated decisions at scale.

Your day-to-day job is constantly changing but successful candidates have the following in common: you are passionate about innovation and display a strong sense of ownership and customer obsession combined with a bias for action and robust analytical thinking. You are comfortable with SQL query design, data modelling and have a passion for driving business decisions. You attack complex business questions with curiosity, diving below the surface to identify the root cause and the "so what" rather than just superficial trends. You thrive by providing data-driven solutions and business intelligence that is timely, accurate, and actionable.

Responsibilities include:
  • Analyze and solve business problems at their root, stepping back to understand the broader context
  • Identify, develop, manage, and execute analyses to uncover areas of opportunity and present written business recommendations that will shape the future of the Amazon Marketplace
  • Identify predictors and causes of business related problems and implement novel approaches related to forecasting and statistical prediction
  • Learn and understand a broad range of Amazon's data resources and know how, when, and which to use
  • Scope, build and own technical data warehouse processes to help the business scale
  • Report key insight trends, using statistical rigor to simplify and inform the larger team of noteworthy story lines that impact the business
  • Collaborate with finance, product management, and data engineers as a leader of quantitative analysis and where you develop solutions that utilize the highest standards of analytical rigor and data integrity

  • MSc/PhD in Statistics, Econometrics, Mathematics or related quantitative field
  • 2+ years of hands-on industry experience in large data analyses, data mining, statistical analyses and predictive modeling
  • 2+ years of R/SAS/Matlab and SQL (or similar scripting language)
  • For technical route: 2+ years of data warehouse knowledge and programming background
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including a strong working knowledge of Excel
  • Record of delivering large analytical solutions with business impact
  • Problem solving ability and passion for big data
  • Excellent communication and data presentation skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English

  • Solid project management skills
