Ontotext provides a complete set of semantic technologies allowing organizations to extract meaning from unstructured data, classify semantic facts, store and manage them inside an optimized RDF Graph Database and build applications. Ontotext customers have deployed the standalone RDF Graph Database as well as complete solutions for searching large corpuses of documents, creating new information products that integrate disparate sets of data and more. Our technology includes unique differentiators across a number of areas including inferencing, scalability, enterprise resilience, standards based core semantic technology and world class services that leverages hundreds of person years working in this domain. We are currently seeking a technical lead in the US to fill the Director of Solutions Architecture position. This key role will work very closely with the SVP of Worldwide Sales, our marketing team and our products and engineering teams headquartered in Sofia, Bulgaria. To a large extent, this position will lead our efforts to acquire new customers and support the existing install base in North America. Ideally, the Director of Solutions Architecture will be located within 2 hours of New York City. Other candidate locations will also be considered.

The Director of Solutions Architecture will have the following responsibilities:
  • Lead the technical part of sales cycle from qualification through proof of concept and closed opportunity status.
  • Understand all technical requirements, assess the fit for Ontotext, position Ontotext technology and present solutions to prospects.
  • Develop integrated architecture diagrams that describe where Ontotext fits into current or future architecture.
  • Educate new prospects on the technical advantages of our semantic technology including unique features, scalability and competitive differentiators.
  • Work closely with the Director of Marketing to help create descriptions of our technology that can be used in marketing material.
  • Collaborate with other technical leaders and engineers in Ontotext to ensure a thorough understanding of Ontotext technology and provide feedback from the field on new requirements and competitive intelligence.
  • Work closely with our partners to ensure they fully understand Ontotext technology and support their selling efforts.
  • Lead the technical side of marketing events including webinars, educational workshops, events and other marketing activity.
  • Collaborate with the SVP of Sales and Marketing on go to market strategies, product marketing content, demo scenarios and other strategic and tactical activity.
  • Manage proof of concepts and evaluations of our technology including building demonstrations as needed.
  • Scoping pricing including services, licenses and maintenance.
  • Providing technical support to our current accounts.

The right candidate for this position should have a passion for semantic technology and the following experience:
  • Ten or more years of experience in enterprise, high tech, B to B sales engineering or a related role.
  • A strong working knowledge of text mining, preferably for a company that developed and sold text mining software.
  • Strong experience scoping semantic solutions including ontologies, taxonomies and thesauri, search applications, document management, data integration, text mining and triple-stores.
  • A working knowledge of RDF and OWL
  • Great presentation skills including the ability to configure demos, import data into our Graph database, work with semantic annotation tools and ontology editors as needed.
  • A background in Java and experience with modern approaches to NoSQL database, graph databases is preferred.
  • A desire to work closely with prospects as a trusted advisor that can help them understand the benefits of semantic technology and the value it brings to both government and commercial organizations.
  • Some experience in media, life sciences, financial services or government is preferred.
  • A drive to exceed quota, eventually lead a team of other solution architects and build our business in North America.
  • A willingness to collaborate with our technical teams in Sofia, Bulgaria
  • At times, this position may have as much as 25% travel with a concentration in the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic for the first 6 months and then expanding to the Midwest, South and West Coast after that.
