Corporate Transformation: Schlumberger is embarking on a multi-year corporate transformation. Objectives of the transformation include step changes in productivity and operational efficiency. Building a strong data and analytic competency across the company is a strong part of operating as a digital organization that is well positioned to compete and deliver on these productivity gains. The scope encompasses both business and operational data and having an analytics strategy around both is required.

ABOUT THIS ROLE


The Schlumberger Enterprise Informatics team has an opening in Houston Texas for an advanced analytics leader who will be responsible for working with the data and business intelligence resources to build and deliver analytics capabilities to the business segments and support the business and IT transformation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES


People:
  • Build and lead a team of data science and advanced analytics talent. Define the appropriate skill and experience mix.
  • Create a culture of integrity and compliance.
  • Guide technical career development and build organizational talent.
  • Inspire and sustain technical excellence, high performance and urgency regarding improving current practices.

 
Technology
  • Create and execute on a technical vision around application of modern data science and analytic technologies to business and operational data.
  • Create and work towards a big data infrastructure strategy.
  • Create a roadmap of implementation/insertion aligned with business and ITT roadmaps.

 
Business
  • Engage with the business segments and internal stakeholders to define high impact problems and needs around analytics.
  • Drive accountability and execution of programs. Make technology/capability transition a priority.
  • Comprehend and stay ahead of market and business needs in analytics.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders associated with IT and broader transformations.

 
External Presence
  • Engage with the external technical and business community to brand and differentiate analytics in Schlumberger.
  • Participate in technical and recruiting forums and other appropriate events to make Schlumberger analytics a recognized and preferred choice for top analytics talent.

 
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Masters Degree in a quantitative discipline like Engineering, Statistics, Information Sciences.
  • (Desirable) PhD in a quantitative discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of professional experience in an industrial or academic setting post a PhD. Minimum of 7 years post Masters.
  • (Desirable) Prior leadership experience with analytic teams.
  • Excellent communication, verbal and written skills

 
Key Competencies in Data Science Technologies:
  • Experience with Big Data analytics stack technologies and tools. R, Hadoop, Spark, Python etc.
  • Experience with essential statistical and machine learning algorithms, including classification. Regression, clustering, statistical learning, ensemble methods.

 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS
  • Exposure to putting analytics in production.
  • Experience with agile methodologies for delivering analytics outcomes.
  • Knowledge of Oilfield terminology and business practices

  • Influencing skills.
