General Summary: Develops game changing analytical, predictive and statistical solutions that enhance business knowledge, as well as developing and deploying models and algorithms to enhance business processes, specifically those that drive marketing strategy and operations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Scope analytics projects including identifying resources and assets needed, determining analysis approach, conducting analysis, and developing execution plans.
  • Works independently or collaboratively throughout the complete analytics project lifecycle including data extraction/preparation, analysis, data mining/predictive model building on key data, deployment and documentation of results.
  • Pro-actively analyzes data to uncover insights that increase business value and impact. Analyses should also include but not be limited to financial, product, market/marketing (including campaign related), risk management, segmentation, and survey design and results analysis.
  • Determines root cause of various customer and employee behaviors which drive costs (i.e. churn, credits, etc).
  • Partners with technical and non-technical resources across the business to leverage their support and integrate our efforts to achieve business objectives.
  • Approaches analytical problems with an appropriate blend of statistical/mathematical rigor with practical business intuition.
  • Supports development of tools and infrastructure to scale operations, increase efficiencies, and improve quality of results.
  • Holds a point-of-view on the strengths and limitations of statistical models and analyses in various business contexts and is able to evaluate and effectively communicate the uncertainty in the results.
  • Approaches analyses in multiple ways in order to evaluate approaches and compare results.
  • Optimizes value and contribution to the business by leveraging a practical and pragmatic style well centered on critical path thinking.

 
Minimum Qualifications
Education: B.S. degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, Mathematics, Physics, Operations/Marketing Research, Engineering or similar quantitative field (Graduate degree strongly preferred)

Relevant Work Experience: 6-8 years experience in an analytical role (consulting to external clients and/or internal business partners); specific experience in mathematical operations in probability and statistical inference, customer-related statistical/predictive modeling, test reliability validity, multiple regression, time series analysis, correlation techniques, market/marketing analysis and project management are a must

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Software
  • SPSS Modeler, or similar data mining software
  • SPSS Statistics, or similar statistical software
  • Business Intelligence Tools, including Cognos, Tableau, or similar BI toolsets
  • Project management software
  • Excel data manipulation capabilities used in context of analytic insight mining and marketing initiative performance measurement

 
Hardware
  • Knowledge of server-related hardware and administration

 
Databases
  • Strong Structure Query Language skills
  • SQL Server experience
  • Experience with large database appliances such as IBM Netezza or Teradata and the ability to leverage large transactional data
  • Ability to manage, clean and transform large data sets
  • Microsoft Access

 
Operating Systems
  • Windows Server Operating Systems
  • Linux-based Operating Systems

 
Other Job Specific Skills
  • Strong understanding of how analytics supports a large organization including being able to successfully articulate the linkage between business decisions, business objectives, and analytical approaches & findings
  • Excellent analytical skills with demonstrated ability to solve complex problems
  • Outstanding oral and written communication with a proven ability to convey thoughts and findings through PowerPoint and other MS Office Suite Applications
  • Strong interpersonal skills to successfully build long-term relationships with colleagues and business partners
  • Some development experience
  • Project management experience
  • Knowledge of telecommunications
  • Extensive experience with predictive modeling, including advanced statistical techniques (GLMs, regression, clustering, trees, etc.)
  • Must be able to manage priorities on multiple projects with tight deadlines while still achieving exceptional results
