Good Start Genetics is a leading molecular diagnostics company that benefits doctors and patients by setting the new gold standard for routine genetic carrier screening for inherited diseases. The right candidate will have autonomy to get hands-on with best-in-class technologies; he or she will collaborate with industry-leaders in cross-functional teams, and directly impact in the growth of the business. The candidate will also have the opportunity to work directly with and learn from some of the world's experts in bioinformatics, genomics and molecular diagnostics.

Technical capability expected:
  • Masters or PhD in Math/Computer Science/Statistics or equivalent experience
  • Expert knowledge of Python and/or R
  • Experience with packages like pandas, numpy, scikit-learn, caret, ggplot
  • Follow reproducible research methodologies (IPython, RStudio, version control)
  • Familiar with Next Gen Sequencing methods and analyses
  • Exposure to (or enthusiasm for learning) high-performance and cloud computing technologies
  • Experience accessing and analyzing terabyte-scale data using SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, MongoDB, Vertica....)
  • Experience with visualization tools such as Tableau
  • Demonstrable logical and analytical thinking
  • Solid communications skills - both written and oral
