Are you passionate about R? Do you use R to solve real-world analysis and predictive modeling problems? Do you contribute packages and improvements to CRAN? Do you want to see R used in real-world solutions?

If you answered "yes" to these questions, we want to talk to you about joining the Microsoft Azure Machine Learning Data Science team. We are a fast paced data science team in the Azure ML group, building machine learning powered intelligent web services and end to end solutions for scenarios in diverse enterprise and consumer verticals. You will work with data from diverse structured and unstructured data sources in both batch and streaming modes, and various formats including tabular, image/video, audio, text and time series.

You will work on all aspects of the design, development and delivery of machine learning enabled solutions using R, including problem definition, data acquisition, data exploration and visualization, feature engineering, experimenting with ML algorithms, evaluating and comparing metrics, deploying the models, iteratively improving the solution, and building the tools and libraries to streamline this process.

  • Background in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Physics, Mathematics, Operations Research or equivalent technical field, with PhD or MS degree with 3+ years of experience in the industry for Scientist, 4+ years post Ph.D or 7+ years post M.S for Senior Scientist, 7+ years post Ph.D or 10+ years post M.S for Principal Scientist.
  • Knowledge of machine learning and data mining techniques in one or more areas of statistical modeling methods, time series, text mining, optimization, information retrieval.
  • Demonstrated expertise in R, with at least 3+ years experience using R for real-word data analysis and predictive modeling
  • Software development skills in one or more high level languages (C#/C/C++/Java/F#), one or more scripting languages (Python/Perl/Shell).
  • Expertise any of the common ML tools (Weka, RapidMiner, KNIME, scikit-learn, SAS, SPSS, ModelBuilder etc.) is a plus.
  • Ability to build production grade machine learning enabled solutions end to end.
