Job Summary
The Data Analyst for the Security Analytics and Intelligence group is responsible for analyzing existing data and analytics approaches, as well as creating/enhancing data and statistical models to support corporate security initiatives.

He/She delivers traditional to advanced analytics solutions to the internal and/or external customers by gathering and analyzing security and operational intelligence from various sources. This position performs descriptive and exploratory statistical analysis, develops proactive and preventative measures against potential threats to the brand, executes tactical and/or strategic analysis of various security factors, and responds to customer's ad-hoc requests. The Data Analyst must have experience generating reports in appropriate format using basic software (E.g. SQL, TSQL, VBScript, MSBI etc.).

The Data Analyst reviews project requirements to understand the type of mathematical, statistical, or data model needed. This position interprets results of mathematical, statistical, or data model needed to ensure proper understanding of what the analysis produced. He/She analyzes data to identify emerging trends. The Data Analyst adjusts parameters, inputs data, and re-runs mathematical, statistical, or data model to increase model performance. This position evaluates alternative methods to provide desired results from mathematical, statistical, or data models.

  • Develops recommendations to aid in the decision-making process.
  • Communicates findings to share results with user groups.

  • Incident Investigation: Applies established procedures for responding to incidents; determines and documents information pertinent to incidents; communicates resolutions or results to stakeholders.
  • Report Generation: Generates reports in appropriate format using basic software; reviews reports to ensure accuracy and completeness; identifies issues with report generation (e.g., missing variables, incorrect data, etc.)
  • Risk Management: Identifies and evaluates risks; determines and applies appropriate risk treatment(s).
  • Small Package Operations Knowledge: Demonstrates and explains proper processes, procedures and methods for small package operations; demonstrates a basic knowledge of common tools, equipment, and technology used within the operation.
  • Solicits and Gathers Information: Demonstrates a working knowledge of techniques for soliciting and gathering information; identifies appropriate sources of information.
  • Technology Knowledge: Recognizes the basic impact of technology on UPS business, services, and processes; identifies technological barriers in achieving desired objectives; maintains appropriate breadth and depth of technological knowledge for current work assignment.
  • Work Methods, Processes, Flows Analysis: Describes the general impact of requirements, problems, or inefficiencies on other parts of the operation or processes; conducts basic analyses and identifies issues impacting the accuracy of data analysis. Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree - Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research - Preferred
  • Master's Degree- Statistics, Mathematics, Industrial Engineering, Operations Research - Preferred
