The Experience Insights team seeks to tell the story of our Guests' holistic vacation experiences and pioneer new tactics that enhance Guest vacation experiences through data science, data integration, statistical modeling/analysis, and delivery of innovative services. Through close partnership with other analytical groups throughout Walt Disney World, the Experience Insights team also serves to get our organization to view the Guest experience and our business in exciting new ways.

The Experience Insights team supports a range of critical projects and issues by leveraging their deep understanding of all areas of Walt Disney World. This position will be responsible for delivering information to support strategic decisions with data-driven insights on both new and established Guest experience drivers.
Responsibilities include: heavy data mining and analytics; strong statistical expertise; integration with key business and technical partners; and visualization of the broader scope.

  • Compile and aggregate data sets from multiple sources leveraging SQL/SAS/R
  • Provide insight into changes and recommendations for improvements including predictive modeling/forecasting
  • Translate Guest experience data into insightful and actionable information to support business decisions

Strategic Decision Making:
  • Interface with multiple teams and stakeholders, e.g., consumer insight, technology, marketing, operations, revenue management and analytics, industrial engineering, etc.
  • Structure and execute operational and strategic initiatives by gathering and synthesizing relevant data, leading analyses and working with Experience Insights team and key stakeholders to deliver recommendations

Basic Qualifications
  • Minimum 5-7 years experience in relevant field of work
  • Demonstrated proficiency with statistical, forecasting, and optimization software and programming languages including SAS and SQL
  • Experience with forecasting and segmentation methodologies
  • Experience with developing recommendation algorithms which incorporate both real-time inputs and location-based awareness
  • Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills with keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrated strong partnering and collaboration skills
  • Must be a creative, critical thinker who enjoys problem solving
  • High aptitude and willingness to learn new science, software applications, and tools
  • Strong written, communication, and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Broad knowledge of The Walt Disney Company and Walt Disney Parks & Resorts
  • Proficiency with data and text mining including model scoring, social network analysis, and predictive analytics
  • Proficiency with visual analytics and dashboard solutions
  • Familiarity with graph networks and databases
  • Proficiency with discrete event simulation
  • Knowledge of statistical methods such as linear regression, generalized linear models, hierarchical/mixed models
  • Familiarity with unstructured data analytics
  • Familiarity with spatial/geographic analytics and path analytics
  • Advanced degree in Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, Math, or related areas

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree in analytics or statistical fields of study; degree in Operations Research

Preferred Education
  • Masters Degree preferred
