The positions will contribute to the MS program in analytics and also support either computer science (both grad and undergrad) or undergraduate Data Science program.

The Analytics Program at the University of San Francisco invites candidates to apply for two different tenure-track Assistant Professor positions to begin August 2016.

The first position will be a joint appointed position with the computer science department as well as analytics. We seek well-qualified candidates in the area of computer science, with a focus on data science and analytics. Relevant research fields include, but are not limited to, machine learning, data mining and acquisition, natural language processing (NLP) and distributed computing. The primary role of this candidate will be to contribute to the master's program in analytics (MSAN), and may also contribute to the graduate and undergraduate computer science program. The successful candidate will have university teaching experience and an earned doctorate related to the research fields listed above by Fall 2016.

The second position is open in the field of analytics and data science and doctoral areas include, but are not limited to applied mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering, operations research, economics, and finance. Relevant research fields include, but are not limited to, machine learning, data mining, NLP, distributed computing, business analytics, signal processing and statistical learning. Special consideration will be given to candidates with industry experience in the field of data science and analytics. The primary role of this candidate will be to support MSAN but duties may also include supporting the undergraduate program in Data Science. The successful candidate will have university teaching experience and an earned doctorate related to the research fields listed above by Fall 2016.

These positions require a commitment to excellence in teaching within a culturally diverse environment, as well as the potential for excellence in research and scholarship. Close interaction between students and faculty is a hallmark of the programs. Both positions will include practicum mentoring duties with our industry partners. The teaching load follows a two-year cycle, with a 2-2 teaching load one year and a 2-3 load the next.

Candidates with significant and demonstrated excellence in teaching and research as well as interest in a leadership role in the analytics program may be considered for an appointment at the associate or full position.
