The Algorithms & Optimization group at XRCI is seeking researchers/engineers with strong technical expertise in the area of Business Process Modeling, Mining, Analysis and Optimization, to participate in exciting research and technology development projects. The focus of these projects will be on characterizing and analyzing complex business processes, designing cost and performance optimized policies for execution, monitoring, and identifying scope for process improvements. Applicants should have a strong background in the general domain of process modeling, process analysis, process mining, and optimization with deep expertise in one or more of Discrete Event Systems Modeling and Simulation and/or Business Process Modeling and Simulation. Applicants with strong background in data mining and/or machine learning and willingness to expand their horizon to process mining/BPM are also encouraged to apply.

The successful candidate will lead/participate in cutting edge research and will apply the highest level of technical competence, analytical and problem solving abilities in support of original and creative scientific projects of significant business impact. While being an independent thinker and contributor, he/she will collaborate effectively with top scientists from across Xerox's global research labs, as well as with business and development teams, and open innovation partners in leading academic institutions. The candidate will create valuable intellectual property, and publish in top tier conferences and journals.

The ideal candidate for the research scientist position will have
  • PhD in Computer Science with experience in Process mining, Business Process Management, Business Analytics, data mining, machine learning with sound technical expertise in one or more of the above mentioned areas
  • Excellent publications in top-tier conferences and journals
  • Experience in analysing real-world data sets in data mining and/or process mining is desirable
  • Experience in handling process optimization (or operational excellence) efforts in industrial settings is desirable
  • Experience in developing process mining algorithms and applying them on real-life event log is a plus
  • Hands-on experience in business process modeling tools e.g., BPML/BPMN/BPEL/Petri Nets (and its variants) and modeling and simulation environments such as Arena/AnyLogic/iGrafx/Simio/Flexsim/ CPN Tools
  • Familiarity with statistical and data analytics tools or business intelligence tools such as R, Weka, SAS, SPSS is a plus
  • Ability to effectively contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

 
The ideal candidate for the (senior) research engineer position will have
  • Masters or Bachelors in Computer Science with experience in data mining, machine learning, process mining, business process management, business analytics with sound technical expertise in one or more of the above mentioned areas
  • Strong programming skills (OOPs languages, scripting languages like Perl, Python, AWK etc)
  • Experience in rapid-prototyping is desirable
  • Ability to effectively contribute to a collaborative team environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Familiarity with statistical and data analytics tools or business intelligence tools such as R, Weka, SAS, SPSS is a plus
  • Experience in analyzing event logs (e.g., applying process mining techniques) from information systems for business insights and optimization is a plus
