Data Scientist (Government Product Group)

  • Renovate America (RA) is looking for a highly motivated Data Scientist specializing in quantitative analysis ideally with experience working GIS.
  • This role works together with the Government Experience product team and focuses on forecasting and benchmarking economic impact in HERO Communities
  • The Data Analyst gathers and analyzes data from various sources, develops reports and visual representations, and supports business decisions with analyses.

Essential Functions:
  • Conduct analyses to assess the economic and environmental impact HERO has had or will have in HERO Communities
  • Investigate and solve business issues and identify opportunities through the analysis of data (both internal and external data sets)
  • Translate business requirements into analytic solutions, models and data requirements
  • Interact with business users to understand and interpret requirements, especially initiatives that support our government partners
  • Design ad-hoc analyses to address business needs
  • Develop models and prototypes to test data visualizations prior to software integration

  • Graduate degree in an analytical discipline (e.g., Econometrics, Financial Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related discipline)
  • 3+ years' experience in a data analysis role in industry or academia (w/GIS data experience a definite plus)
  • Full understanding of data sources and limitations, pulling data, and working with large data sets
  • Experience in statistical model development and machine learning.
  • Creative problem solving and a passion for data mining
  • Exceptional business acumen and ability to explain business significance using data and analysis
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High-level of Proficiency with MS Excel
  • Python or R Experience Required
