Aetna's Data Science department provides critical healthcare analytic critical insights for one of the largest health insurance companies. The team is searching for a senior expert in machine learning to join our team which runs big data analytics (with datasets containing over 10 Billion records) on our Hadoop cluster using Hive, Pig, Scala, Spark, Python, R, H20, etc.

Position Summary/Mission: Provides strategic leadership for the development, validation and delivery of machine learning and data science algorithms. Acts as the analytic team lead for highly complex projects involving multiple resources and tasks, providing individual mentoring to junior colleagues.

Fundamental Components:
  • Leads development of new and/or highly complex algorithms and statistical predictive
  • Establishes analytical rigor and statistical methods to analyze large amounts of data
  • Manages highly complex analytical projects from data exploration, model building, performance evaluation and testing
  • Motivates team members and probes into technical details, and mentors others to do the same.
  • Provides thought leadership and direction for analytic solutions, tools and studies theories and techniques to investigate problems, detect patterns and recommend solutions

Background/Experience desired:

Masters or PhD with at least 7-10 or more years of increasingly complex experience post graduate degree. Demonstrates advanced specialization in machine learning, statistical analyses, and predictive modeling. Expertise in innovating and implementing novel machine learning techniques, particularly for real world industrial solutions. Comprehensive knowledge of health care industry, products, systems, business is a plus. Ability to interact and collaboratively and collegially work with technical and non-technical individuals is critical, as well as spoken and written communication skills.
