The Consumer Financial Solutions (CFS) team focuses on the growth and management of Wells Fargo's consumer credit card portfolio, including general purpose and co-brand cards. In addition, our team delivers industry-leading rewards, offers and benefits that recognize and celebrate our customers' relationship with Wells Fargo and keep us focused on earning and re-earning more of their business. The new Digital Incubator team ("incubator") leads Wells Fargo's online and mobile credit card acquisition strategy and execution, partnering with product, marketing, credit risk, and loan operations teams to develop new digital card acquisition capabilities and offerings.

The Digital Incubator will manage all aspects of digital card acquisition, from lead source prioritization, customer targeting and data measurement & analytics to application origination, underwriting and fulfillment.

At the Wells Fargo's Digital Incubator we are all about using smart, innovative, data-driven business solutions to develop and execute a bold and market-leading digital acquisition strategy for our rapidly growing credit card business. Right now, we are looking for a bright and creative data scientist to help us design and build the next generation of predictive tools that will guide our digital capabilities and offerings. The position offers a unique opportunity to be part of a small, fast-paced, challenging, and "start-up" like environment.

  • Apply various statistical and machine learning techniques, to develop segmentations, predictive models, experimental designs, and decision analyses
  • Gather, manipulate, and analyze large data sets from multiple sources
  • Develop algorithms to optimize product offering, pricing, and distribution channel
  • Transform data into impactful business insights, strategy recommendations and implementation plans to improve key performance metrics for the business
  • Evaluate model output, formulate and test hypotheses, weigh alternatives, and determine appropriate responses
  • Apply deep, creative, rigorous thinking to solve broad business problems
  • Collaborate closely with various functional groups such as Product, Marketing, and Technology to successfully deliver results
  • Effectively communicate findings and solutions to a variety of audiences

Required Qualifications
  • 6+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling; or a Masters degree or higher in a quantitative field such as applied math, statistics, engineering, physics, accounting, finance, economics, econometrics, computer sciences, or business/social and behavioral sciences with a quantitative emphasis and 4+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: reporting, analytics, or modeling

  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of research and analysis
  • Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively to find innovative solutions to complex analytical questions
  • Ability to work in a fast paced deadline driven environment

Other Desired Qualifications
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience building predictive models using regression analysis
  • 3+ years hands-on supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques (e.g. CHAID, random forest, boosted trees, Bayesian modeling, support vector machines, neural networks, clustering, graphical models)
  • Expert knowledge of SAS and SQL.
  • Experience with one or more of the following: R, Python, Pig, Hive.
  • Experience with distributed computing (Hadoop).
  • Familiarity with web analytics concepts (i.e. sales funnel analysis, click through, impressions, etc.)
  • Breadth of knowledge includes full lifecycle of customer from targeting to acquisition, customer performance, loyalty and retention
  • Financial industry and digital marketing experience a plus
  • Familiarity with digital channel systems, processes, and analytic tools
