The University of Iowa’s Department of Management Sciences invites applicants for a Lecturer starting August 17, 2016. The person will supervise 4 or more sections per academic year of the undergraduate experiential Business Analytics Capstone course. The position also includes a Director role in Tippie Analytics Cooperative, which will develop, maintain & strengthen working relationships within the Tippie College of Business, the University, the UI Foundation, & industry partners. The Director is expected to raise funds that will lead the Cooperative to financial self-sustainability. Responsibilities also include: providing career coaching, acquiring projects that support capstone courses, & providing strategic & operational control of the Cooperative’s activities (strategic planning and budgeting).
We seek candidates for a 75% appointment. Additional teaching opportunities could bring the appointment to 100%. Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
We offer undergraduate & doctoral programs in Business Analytics and Information Systems (BAIS), along with Graduate Certificate and Master’s programs in Business Analytics & a specialization in Analytics in the Fulltime MBA program. The Cooperative supports these programs by providing students with the necessary skills for workplace success. The Cooperative also seeks to engage with industry to disseminate and develop the state-of-the-art in analytics knowledge.

Education Requirements: A master’s degree is required, with a preference for a degree in a subject area related to analytics (mathematics, statistics, computer science, information systems, management sciences, industrial engineering).
Required Qualifications: Applicants must demonstrate a background in teaching quantitative subjects at the college/university level.
Desirable Qualifications: Extensive industry experience in analytics or project management is preferred. A critical component of the Director’s position is effective interaction with both academics within higher education & practicing professionals in analytics, & excellent interpersonal communication skills.
