WeWork is seeking a principal data scientist to lead and grow a team of data scientists. You will work with the team to propose, choose, scope, tackle, and ultimately deliver impactful data products that drive value across the organization from sales to marketing, from member community to real estate.

This is an exciting hands-on role munging data, writing code, and developing models for a rapidly-growing global brand with co-working and living locations across the globe, a vibrant international member community, and a fun, broad set of data science challenges to solve, at scale.

Your primary responsibilities will include (though will not be limited to):
  • Lead, nurture, and grow a team of data scientists.
  • As leader, and individual contributor, develop and deploy models ranging from classification and clustering to NLP and predictive modeling that directly impact the business.
  • Liaise with the business, executive team, and rest of the team to determine which problems and projects to tackle, their scope and priority, and timelines.
  • Bring the business into the projects as full vested partners, maintain excellent lines of communications during projects, and communicate the process, progress, and value to the broader set of stakeholders.
  • Define and lead the development process, ranging from choosing appropriate technologies, participating in code reviews, and keeping the team agile.
  • Drive the team to be constantly curious and level up both your and their skills.
  • Keep up-to-date with latest developments in the field and inspire the team.
  • Track record of delivering on projects and data products that drive the business forward.
  • At least 10 years in a data science like role, focussed on areas such as algorithms, statistics, or artificial intelligence. A Master's or Ph.D. in quantitative relevant subject (such as science, computer science, statistics, or machine learning) is preferred but far more important is your proven, industry track record.
  • At least 5 years experience leading data scientists in an industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to use data to influence decision making.
  • Expert knowledge of machine learning, data mining, and natural language processing algorithms.
  • Strong technical skills, especially in Python (numpy, scikit-learn, pandas etc), R, and *nix command line.
  • Ability to effectively lead and deliver multiple projects concurrently.
  • Expert in SQL and possessing broad and deep experience with range of database technologies, especially Redshift.
