Media6� is a New York-based start-up that utilizes sophisticated analytics and data-based insights to help advertisers realize the potential opportunities arising with the growth of user-generated content. We provide marketers with a new breed of targeting by applying predictive modeling to dramatically raise the effectiveness of on-line marketing efforts. Through our efforts Media6� provides marketers the ability to effectively reach micro-affinity groups on a massive scale through the analysis of online interactions implicit in social network data.

Statistical analysis and learning technologies are central to our business, and due to our successful growth we have created several openings for applied statisticians with strong computer science backgrounds and experience with predictive modeling for real-world applications with very large volumes of data.

List of Core Responsibilities

• Conduct applied research in the areas of classification, clustering, data reduction, sampling and evaluation.
• Assist in the development of core technologies
• Design and execute experiments and other analyses
• Work directly with software engineers who will implement the technologies to effectively transition the results of your efforts from research to production.

• Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or equivalent
• Meaningful experience building predictive models for production applications
• Expert in classic applied statistics (linear models, logistic regression, hypothesis testing, sampling)
• Broad and deep understanding of machine learning algorithms
• Demonstrated ability to effectively use statistical and machine learning packages (R, SAS and/or SPSS)
• Experience building and evaluating complex statistical predictive models
• Clear thinker with the ability to effectively communicate concepts, both verbally and in writing, to technical and non-technical audiences
• Ability to define and lead complex projects
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a dynamic, collaborative environment
• Working knowledge of relational databases and SQL

• Expert in mining social network data (or serious interest in becoming one)
• Knowledge/experience with dimensionality reduction and clustering techniques
• Experience with visualizing and presenting analytical results graphically
• Substantial programming and/or scripting experience
• Ability to quickly prototype new ideas

• Experience manipulating massive data sets using the Map/Reduce or similar paradigm with hands-on Hadoop experience a major plus

This position is full time and NYC based. Relocation assistance may be provided for strong out-of-town candidates.
