Subject: PC Week: NBA coaches' latest weapon: Data mining

March 6, 2000, PC Week reports on the use of Advanced Scout, a custom-built data mining application with natural language query capabilities, by NBA Coaches such as Brian James of Toronto Raptors.

PC week reports that Advanced Scout has made defenses across the league much tighter by making it easier for coaches to decide where to put their players for maximum effect and by allowing them to decipher other coaches' signals.

Advanced Scout was developed by Inderpal Bhandari while at IBM. Inderpal's new firm, Virtual Gold, continues the development of Advanced Scout.
