Subject: KDD Cup 2000 data now available for educational and research purposes
The Knowledge Discovery and Data Mining Competition this year involved
e-commerce analysis. The web clickstreams and purchase transactions
were collected at Gazelle.com, a retailer that sold legware/legcare
products and shut down in August 2000.

The data provided was collected directly at the store by the Blue
Martini Customer Interaction System (http://www.bluemartini.com),
which provides very detailed information about what was on every page
(e.g., products, assortments), what are the attributes of products,
and what are customer attributes and responses to questionnaires
(personal customer information was removed or perturbed).

The talk describing the competition, winners, and results is available
at http://robotics.Stanford.EDU/~ronnyk/kddCupTalk.ppt
Results were announced at the KDD conference on Aug 20, 2000.

The data sets, which were available to the participants in the
competition, are now available for non-commercial educational or
research purposes using a clickthrough legal agreement.

If you are interested in getting access to the data and to the
background information (e.g., marketing programs done), visit
http://www.ecn.purdue.edu/KDDCUP and click on the link under legal
agreement. You must fill out the form and a password will be e-mailed
to you.

If you have questions, please make sure to look at the FAQ before
mailing us. It has over 60 questions that we answered during the
competition. If you have further questions or would like to share
a new discovery, please mail to kddcup2000@bluemartini.com

Happy mining!
Remember not to use the test set too much since you'll be overfitting it.
