Subject: Postdoc and PhD scholarships in data mining, U. of South Australia
         School of Computer and Information Science
 A postdoc research fellow position in data mining is available.
Please contact gdong@cs.wright.edu (before Dec 5, 2000) or
cisgd@cs.unisa.edu.au (after Dec 5, 2000) regarding this position.

 Applications are also invited for two 3-year PhD studentships. The
 area of research will be data mining. The successful candidates will
 receive a stipend plus tuition waiver. Applicants should have a Masters
 (or Bachelor with honours) in Computer Science or related area, with a
good
 background in Database or Artificial Intelligence. Please submit a CV

 The postdoc and the students will work with Professor Guozhu Dong.
Recent
 research results of his group include the efficient mining of emerging
 patterns and of periodic patterns, algorithms for emerging-pattern
based
 classifiers, and extensions of these results to business, medicine,
