announced the release of the Embeddable Discovery Engine.
The embeddable engine is a collection of power-packed
software modules that empower business applications with
data mining and pattern discovery on large databases.
Usually, these modules are not directly visible to the business
user, but they deliver the power that drives intelligent
applications such as customer relationship management.

The Embeddable Discovery Engine can be embedded within
business application which use a relational database to store
their internal data. The discovery engine does not create Ascii
extract or samples files, but directly accesses the relational
database with SQL. The engine accesses the SQL database
and produces a set of patterns that highlight the hidden
relationships within the data elements. The refined patterns
are again stored within a set of tables, accessible via SQL.

When end users utilize the business application, the system
accesses the refined pattern tables with a set of SQL templates
based on the Pattern Query LanguageTM. Response time
for accessing the pattern tables is very fast here because the
patterns are always pre-mined. Endusers are not aware of
the intricacies of the data mining process, but notice exceptional
intelligence delivered by the business application. Moreover,
endusers are not prone to making  statistical errors here
because the patterns have been pre-mined.

The refined patterns produced by the Embeddable Discovery
Engine may be used in a multitude of ways within the business
application, e.g. delivering business intelligence via graphs and
reports; making predictions, forecasts, online e-service,
personalization, etc. The Embeddable Discovery Engine thus
turns business applications into intelligent applications.
