CFPFrom: Alexander Tuzhilin atuzhili@stern.nyu.eduDate: Tue, 19 Dec 2000 22:36:28 -0500 Subject: INFORMS spec. issue on Mining Web-Based Data for eBusiness Applications CALL FOR PAPERS Special Issue of the INFORMS Journal on Computing Mining Web-based Data for e-Business Applications http://joc.pubs.informs.org/WebDM.html Guest Editors: Louiqa Raschid (University of Maryland) and Alex Tuzhilin (NYU) Data mining techniques are increasingly being applied with great success to large datasets in the WWW environment. The INFORMS Journal on Computing (JoC) http://joc.pubs.informs.org/ solicits high-quality original papers describing novel data mining methods and applications that have a potential impact on the WWW. The Editors are particularly interested in methods that span the boundaries of traditional disciplines of Computer Science, OR/Management Science, and Statistics, and applications that span the functional areas of Information Systems, Marketing, and Operations Management. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to): * Techniques for collecting and organizing Web-based data. * Algorithms and techniques for analyzing this data. * Development of theoretical principles to reflect what can be gleaned from Web site visitors (customers, suppliers, employees, etc.), based on "touch-point" data (clickstream, registration, purchasing, etc.), combined with third-party and off-line data, both at the individual and the segment level. * Electronic Relationship Management (including Customer Relationship Management and Personalization) issues particular to the Web environment. * Privacy, security and trust issues. * Architectures and techniques for WWW Data Mining. * eBusiness applications (marketing, merchandizing, supply chain management, etc.) that may benefit from Web-based mining. Papers will be published in the JoC in a special cluster on this topic in the area of Knowledge and Data Mining. The Journal of Computing is a publication of the Institute for Operations Research and Management Sciences (INFORMS), and has a focus on the interface between operations research, management science and computer science. Submission Deadline: February 1, 2001. A copy of the manuscript in PDF format should be submitted by email to one of the Special Issue Editors: Professor Louiqa Raschid Professor Alex Tuzhilin Smith School of Business Information Systems Department University of Maryland Stern School of Business, NYU College Park, Maryland 20742 44 West Fourth Street, Rm. 9-78 louiqa@umiacs.umd.edu New York, NY 10012 (301) 405-2228 atuzhili@stern.nyu.edu Manuscripts should be prepared according to JoC guidelines.
