Summary:

Fair, Isaac is searching for an Analytics Project Manager for its research and development unit to lead special research projects and develop new products and services. The Project Manager is in charge of all analytic facets of these projects, including design, data analysis, model development and implementation, testing and tracking of the finished models. The Project Manager is one member of a team dedicated to building decision support systems based on these analytic models primarily for the eCommerce and Financial Services markets.

Responsibilities:

The Project Manager will mine data to detect possible problems, investigate and recommend solutions. He/She will approach given problems from various angles and determine the best-suited course, switching from one kind of solution strategy to another when necessary. The Project Manager will also anticipate not only technical problems, but future implementation and acceptance issues, taking steps to avoid or minimize potential difficulties before they become issues.

Skills/Requirements:

  • Advanced level study in quantitative analysis required as well as business experience in applying mathematical techniques to the solution of practical problems.
  • Experience using statistical packages, such as SAS, SPSS or SPLUS is highly desirable as is programming experience in C or C++.
  • At least five years of model development and data analysis experience required.
Skill to:
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with people at all levels of Fair, Isaac and client organizations; build morale and team spirit among analytic team members;
  • Communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing with persons having diverse backgrounds of knowledge and experience; conduct meetings and make professional presentations; teach complex concepts and explain technical material to non-technical users;
  • Conceive and initiate projects; improvise and invent solutions in new, non-standard and unstructured situations; work independently, retaining flexibility in working methods, schedules and travel;
  • Adjust to a fluctuating work load; withstand pressure of deadlines, operating problems and interpersonal tensions;
  • Organize and manage time and resources; establish priorities and coordinate work on many projects simultaneously;
  • Examine data and detect possible problems; create and test hypotheses about causes and cures;
  • Extract, from a broad background of technical knowledge, the specific techniques applicable to the solution of a given problem; switch from one kind of solution strategy to another to determine the approach best suited to a given problem.
