BriefsRelizon completes the acquisition for EpsilonDAYTON, OH and BURLINGTON, MA - November 12, 2001 - The Relizon Company today announced that it has completed its $189 million cash acquisition of Epsilon, a developer of customer relationship management, data mining and data analytics applications. The deal for Epsilon, a privately held firm with 2000 revenues of approximately $120 million, was valued at $189 million. The acquisition positions Relizon as one of the industry's most comprehensive providers of total business communications solutions and creates an organization with annual revenues approaching $1 billion. The two companies will combine their CRM initiatives and Epsilon CEO Corey Torrence will head up the new unit. "Epsilon's experience and expertise in direct and database marketing (particularly data mining and data analytics) will allow us to offer a more robust set of marketing solutions," says Relizon CEO Rodney Hedeen. Relizon was created in August 2000 when The Reynolds and Reynolds Co. sold its information solutions group to The Carlyle Group, an investment banking firm. Industry analysts like the transaction. "The addition of Epsilon's strong capabilities as a marketing solutions provider will clearly enhance Relizon's marketing offering," says Harry Watkins, research director, Aberdeen's customer relationship management practice.
