The past KDnuggets Poll asked the question: Where do you plan to use data mining in 2002?

Comparing with results of similar poll taken in June 2001, (based on 448 votes, see www.kdnuggets.com/polls/2001/application_areas_future.htm) we see a decline in percentage of data miners who have chosen Entertainment, eCommerce/Web, Investment/Stocks, Telecommunications, and (surprisingly) Science applications.

The strongest gain is among 2 application areas which did not appear in June poll, Direct Marketing/Fundraising, and Manufacturing.
