OPERATIONAL POSITION DESCRIPTION

OVERVIEW OF ROLE:

Primary Responsibility:

The Vice President of Customer Strategy & Analysis is responsible for developing the customer relationship strategy by integrating high-level statistics capabilities with a deep understanding of business economics. This person will use customer lifetime value, segmentation and migration to define the customer relationship strategy across all products. The Vice President will proactively identify opportunities to increase customer value through the use of database tools and analytics such as life cycle or life stage management, trigger marketing and cross-product bundling.

This position needs to provide leadership in six main areas:

  • Customer lifetime value-understanding and defining customer lifetime value across all sales channels, products and segments.
  • Customer segmentation-developing new customer segmentation schemas through the use of modeling and customer profiling.
  • Customer migration-tracking migration across channels, packages and products over time in order to understand how best to position our products.
  • Strategic business rules-working closely with M&A to determine the contact management strategy, the prioritization of segments and the development of customer scorecards.
  • Cross-selling propensities-defining the cross- product and cross-channel relationship strategy.
  • Management of Digital Integration and Overall Data Integrity -managing and coordinating the Marketing Datamart project deliverables and requirements gathering on behalf of the Database Marketing team. This function serves as the primary contact with the IS department.

  • Director Modeling and Analysis
  • Director Customer Segmentation
  • Director Development-has two direct reports
  • Administrative Assistant

OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES OF THIS POSITION

1. Manage three directors in the development of customer relationship management strategies.
2. Direct analytic team and outside vendors in the development of predictive models.
3. Direct analytic team in the development of customer segmentation strategies and in life stage and cycle management strategies.
4. Continually update and review customer lifetime value metrics.
5. Direct the activities necessary to conduct yearly market analysis for budgeting and planning process
6. Direct the continual analysis of customer behavior by segment and product to guide Product Management and Marketing activities.
7. Continually assess Product Management and Marketing &Advertising's information needs with respect to understanding the customer, prioritize those needs and direct team in the best way to meet those needs.
8. Direct IS in the continued integration of critical customer data into the Marketing Datamart and ongoing maintenance
9. Work with M&A and Product to identify new, data elements and models necessary for enhanced segmentation and profitability analyses
10. Work closely with SMP VP's and Directors to support strategic planning and research initiatives

d) Experience in problem solving and analysis in a marketing environment.

3. Key Experiences/Achievements
a) 8-10 years in Database marketing or equivalent
b) Management of small to medium size analytical team
c) Ability to juggle priorities in a highly dynamic environment
d) Experience managing SAS analysts
