Megaputer X-SellAnalyst powers Global Engineering Documents

DENVER, September 15, 2002 - Global Engineering Documents®, a division of IHS, now offers standards buyers a valuable tool to help them identify related documents. (See http://global.ihs.com) Based on years of sales data, the Document Suggestion Search returns a list of documents that are most commonly purchased in conjunction with any given document. Sales resulting from Document Suggestion System recommendations are on average equal to 5.75% of sales.

"The value of this search is that it helps people find related documents that may not be referenced. Some of the results are obvious, but others would be hard to determine without extensive research. This tool is a big gain for companies that want to maximize their competitive advantage through compliance to multiple and varied standards," says Online Marketing Manager, Jaren Green.

The Global database, which catalogs nearly a million active and historical standards documents, is the world's largest collection of standards information available. Access to the site is free of charge and provides a single source for obtaining the status of a document and, with the new system, you can also learn about suggested related documents. More than 125,000 documents are available for fast electronic delivery from the site.

Suggestions are statistically calculated from Global's extensive document database and purchase histories. The system is powered by X-SellAnalyst from Megaputer Intelligence, Inc., a manufacturer of data mining and statistics software.

"This project shows the value of data mining," said Green. "Other standards providers can make suggestions, but only Global has the depth of information needed to provide statistically accurate suggestions to the majority of document researchers."
