This issue is dedicated to Privacy and Security issues in data mining and is guest edited by Johannes Gherke. In addition to an interesting set of articles on the special topic, it also includes writeups from the winning entries of last year's KDD Cup competition and reports of other events from KDD 2002. SIGKDD members will be sent the hard copies shortly.
