Subject: Austin, Texas: Engineering Scientist for Machine Learning at Applied Research Laboratories, University of Texas at Austin

Applied Research Laboratories is an organized research unit of The University of Texas and conducts programs of basic and applied research, development, engineering, testing, evaluation, and assessment, primarily for the United States Department of Defense.

Job Description: Lead team of researchers and software developers in basic research and implementation to actively monitor the content of large datasets in enterprise networking environments.

Functions: Research classification algorithms, machine learning, and data mining. Develop software to meet requirements of sponsored research projects. Communicate with project team members, management, and sponsor as needed for timely implementation of project requirements. Contribute to project design and user documentation. Publish and present result of research.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or other applied sciences. Three years of applied research experience. Experience in independent research and implementation in the areas of machine learning systems and/or data mining. Proficiency in Object-Oriented software development using Java and/or C++. Experience with software development on Linux or Unix systems. Demonstrated experience in effective publication, presentation, and documentation. U.S. Citizenship.

Monthly salary: $5628-$7181, negotiable depending on qualifications. Excellent benefits.
