Subject: Java Data Mining (JSR-73) Specification Enters Second Round of Public Review

Java Specification Request (JSR) 73: Java Data Mining (JDM) has posted the second draft of the JDM Specification for public review. During the past year, the public review resulted in significant enhancements to the specification. These include the addition of a draft Web Services interface for JDM, inclusion of the Support Vector Machine (SVM) algorithm, tighter integration with standard Java language interfaces, error message specification, and improved object import.

See http://www.jcp.org/jsr/detail/73.jsp to access the Public Review documents. Review comments should be submitted to jsr-73-comments@jcp.org.

Java Data Mining provides a framework for performing common data mining operations, while facilitating the introduction of new or non-standard mining algorithms. By separating algorithm details from function level specification, JDM strives to make data mining accessible to mining experts and novices. JDM currently focuses on mining functions including classification, regression, clustering, association rules, and attribute importance (a.k.a. feature selection).

See http://www.jcp.org/introduction/overview/index.en.jsp for an introduction to the Java Community Process and becoming a member.
