CMS helps retailers increase in-store traffic and sales by providing turnkey software and ongoing operational services to distribute their print ads on their Web sites and via third party sites. CMS is based in Chicago, Illinois and is jointly owned by Gannett, Knight Ridder, and Tribune Company. This is a tremendous opportunity to join a rapidly growing organization in a critical role as a Senior Research Analyst who works closely with management and supports clients.

Job Description:

The Senior Research Analyst is responsible for internal and external analysis and reporting. The analyst will be responsible for analyzing and reporting results from extensive web logs, surveys, client provided data, internal operations data, server performance statistics, and some secondary data sources such as demographic and geographic databases. The position has extensive interface with Sales, Marketing, Client Services, Operations, Technology, and clients with a focus on driving incremental growth and profitability. The analyst will make presentations to clients, reporting results in written and graphic format. Will need to be able to translate data into conclusions and business recommendations. Requires strong working knowledge of databases, query and analytical techniques, and the Microsoft Office suite. Position reports directly to the President and Chief Operating Officer.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct quantitative analysis of web traffic and consumer behavior for clients
  • Analyze operating data, system performance, marketing initiatives, and advertising effectiveness
  • Analyze automated web traffic reports
  • Design customized reports
  • Design and implement online surveys
  • Conduct ad hoc analyses
  • Assess internal initiatives
  • Prepare and present results
Job Qualifications:

This candidate should have 2 - 4 years of previous intensive analysis experience performing numerous ad hoc analyses with minimal supervision. Experience in one of the following areas would be ideal: market research, advertising, supply chain management, or consulting. Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, great communication and interpersonal skills, strong computer skills, and customer service focus are imperative. This candidate should possess a B.S. degree. Strong quantitative skills and business intuition required.

SQL, Excel, Access, and other data retrieval and analysis tools are used. There is some travel required to client sites.
