Description
- Apply advanced analytics (e.g., statistical regression, modeling, data mining) to improve the B&N loyalty marketing program results.
- Work with marketing business managers to understand their business needs. Leverage statistical techniques to help develop marketing campaign tests (with appropriate sample-sized test/control cells and other parameters, for instance), and conduct post-campaign statistical analysis with regards to test cell variances (e.g., using linear regression).
- Develop an overall methodology for setting up marketing campaigns from experimental design and operational point of view and for analyzing them using statistical techniques.
- Work with an RDBMS (e.g., Oracle) to manipulate customer data for modeling and analytics.
- Interpret and translate the results achieved from the statistical analysis into business language for management presentation.
- Help business managers utilize advanced analytics results to develop actionable marketing programs.
- Offer ideas for "continuous improvement" in marketing tests design and analysis.
- Evaluate new analytical tools as required.
Requirements:
- 5+ years industry experience (preferably in Retail, Financial Services, Publishing)
- Extensive knowledge of statistical techniques for marketing tests design, post-campaign analysis of customer behavior/results, and predictive modeling.
- Knowledge of statistical tools such as SAS Base/Stat. Knowledge of predictive modeling tools such as SAS Enterprise Miner or Unica Affinium Model would be a plus.
- Business orientation - be able to take marketing needs and translate them into marketing tests development; subsequently, interpret results in actionable business terms for managers.
- BA/BS in Mathematics, Management or other technical discipline, or equivalent experience, required.
- Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or equivalent field is a plus.
